I have been a member of Warwick Boat Club tennis section for almost 25 years but have only really got to fully enjoy all the club has to offer since retiring from full time work in 2014.

My career in the global automotive industry took our family to numerous countries from the USA to Turkey, then Switzerland and Germany. We came to Warwickshire and joined WBC when I ran Jaguar Cars. Since leaving full time executive life, I have Chaired or been a Non-Executive Director at various organisations including British Cycling, the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Auto1 Group and the Organising Committee for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

As a family we’ve enjoyed going through the full Gavin, Jenny & Jackie tennis production line. While both of our kids now live in the USA, Maxine and I enjoy a wide range of the social and competitive tennis on offer across the club. Most recently I’ve captained the Men’s 4th team, played in various mixed teams and also started up and captained the Men’s Vets winter league team.

Since being approached to stand as Tennis Captain, I’ve spoken extensively to the current Club and Tennis Captains, Tennis Committee members, previous Captains and Committee members as well as others around the club. I believe that my experience leading both commercial and sporting organisations, plus a track record of achieving close collaboration across diverse groups, can add to the excellent work already being done and help the club evolve sustainably as both a family centred and a high performing tennis club
