As a member of Warwick Boat Club since 2018, I cherish the vibrant community that our member-run Club fosters. I take great pride in ensuring that the competitive ‘team tennis’ elements of our Tennis section are as inclusive as possible. Whether it’s our newly formed Men’s sixth team, our premier league-winning top teams, or the players who form the heart of our club tennis, everyone is valued and included.
My competitive tennis journey moved through being in the top five for 14&U, then reaching a ‘career-high’ of #56 in the UK (ladies). I competed for my County (H&W) at open and junior levels and successfully represented Oxford University’s Blues team while studying there. I have slowly progressed down the team sheet at WBC, from playing matches as the no.1 lady in singles to representing teams other than the 1sts (& 2nds!). I am thrilled to compete with such a cross-section of talented and enthusiastic players.
Over the first year of being our Tennis Committee’s Team Tennis Representative, I have tried to systematise and log the administration behind entering, organising, and generally enabling our fixtures to take place. I actively contributed to rearranging our home fixtures to facilitate the resurfacing of courts 1-5, working alongside Captains to allow a difficult migration period to go relatively smoothly.
I hope that I am approachable and allow the voice of a different generational cohort to speak at the Tennis Committee. My professional background as an Actuary means I feel relatively comfortable working through complex and longer-time horizon projects, which I hope is helpful when discussing broader Tennis Committee items. I’ve worked in various organisational structures (private-partnership, private-listed, public, and mutual), and am aware of the uniqueness of our volunteer-led structure.
