I have been a member of Warwick Boat Club in the tennis section for approximately 15 years.  I have become more involved in the club and playing more tennis in the last 18 months since selling my business and having more time to enjoy playing a lot more tennis!  I am now involved in the Ladies Summer and Winter league teams, and the Vets and Mixed teams, and enjoy lots of social tennis, as well as regular coaching sessions.

I have been lucky to have worked in sport, and with children and young people all my working life, in a variety of roles.  I worked at the National Coaching Foundation (now UK Coaching) as Development Manager with responsibility for developing coaches at all levels through coaching development and coach education opportunities across the United Kingdom.  In 1992 I moved to Edinburgh and took on an exciting role to manage the implementation of the national coach development strategy, Coaching Scotland, working with national governing bodies of sport and local authorities, and other key partners.

Due to my husband’s, Andrew, move to the Rugby Football Union in 2000, which meant a move to England, I worked at the Youth Sport Trust based at Loughborough University.   I was responsible for a number of key development programmes to support children and young people including two Government initiatives, with sponsorship from Adidas and Nike, managing a total budget of £11 million; a Girls in Sport programme and my final position was Head of Early Years, developing and implementing a strategy to improve physical activity in the early years.

In 2011 Andrew and I set up our own consultancy business, where we managed a coach development programme for Olympic and Commonwealth Games coaches with funding from UK Sport and Sports Coaching UK.   Through our business, we also set up Banana Moon Hatton, an early years setting for children aged between 0-5 years old.  We had a staff team of 35 and 190 children attended the nursery.  Our ethos was to introduce and ensure that all the children had the opportunities to learn and develop through play and physical activity opportunities.  We sold the nursery in February 2023.

I have now taken the opportunity to set up a Bed and Breakfast business which is keeping me busy, but works well around my life, and gives me more time for me to enjoy all my tennis!!

Through all my career, communication with a wide variety of audiences, organisations and people has been very important and a key skill, as well as organisational skills.  Working as a team, supporting and developing people through a variety of programmes, and promoting and marketing the various opportunities have also been important.

I am excited to have the opportunity to be more involved in WBC tennis section, working with the team to support the continued the growth and development of the club.
