Initially started by Jackie and Anna Potts the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday sessions were immediately popular with their combination of tuition, play and social interaction over coffee and biscuits.
At its peak there were some 150 players each week, divided into eight groups for one and a half hour sessions. And at the end of term there was a tournament for everyone. Not only was the coaching highly enjoyable but also attracted many new members to join the club knowing they would be instantly introduced to new friends.
Both ladies have represented GB tennis with Jenny, in particular, winning numerous titles and gold medals in single and doubles. Additionally, Jackie has held many administrative roles at club, regional and national level for squash and tennis. What a talented pair!
It will be a tough act to follow but tennis manager Gavin Henderson is putting together an Autumn schedule to enable the scheme to continue. Meanwhile Jenny intends to continue her individual and small group coaching. Well done Jenny and Jackie and thank you for everything you have done.
