About Warwick Boat Club

Welcome to the official website of Warwick Boat Club. Located in one of the most picturesque settings in England, our grounds slope down to the River Avon and – with the historic Warwick Castle as a backdrop – it is a truly magnificent setting.

Formed in 1861 the Warwick Boat Club now encompasses tennis, squash, bowls and rowing. The whole club is owned and run by its members and is therefore united by a special team spirit. It is not uncommon, for example, to see squash players take on rowers at bowls, or to see tennis and squash players take on each other at rowing during the Club’s annual regatta.

The rowing section, which was the first sport at the Club, has around 150 members from juniors to veterans. Crews from Warwick have represented the town at all levels of competition from local regattas through to Henley Royal Regatta and even World Championships.

Back on land the Club boasts 11 state-of-the-art artificial grass courts – ten of them floodlit. The section holds a wide variety of tournaments, socials, club nights and coaching courses throughout the year. There is an abundance of match play all year round including age-limited teams. In 2020 the club's men's and ladies first teams were promoted to the National League putting WBC in the top eight clubs in the UK.

The squash section was formed in 1968 and now has 150 members playing on two well-maintained squash courts. The main focus of the section revolves around a monthly league catering for all standards. Both men’s and women’s teams also compete in the Warwickshire leagues.

The bowls section has about 100 members. Within the Club the section has an important social aspect with dinners organised by the club after most matches. Throughout the summer the Club both organises and attends a wide range of fixtures throughout the region.

The Club’s social committee organises several well-attended events throughout the year from a Christmas party to summer barbeques on the banks of the river. A £200,000 refurbishment of the pavilion includes a larger bar, the creation of eating, drinking areas and television areas, as well as a meeting room and other seating areas. The extended pavilion now caters for up to 100 people at dinner functions.
