Boat Naming Ceremony and Annual Scratch Regatta

The rowing section recently welcomed the arrival of two new Stampfli coxed fours. Long standing club members Kate Rider and Jon Martin had the honour of naming the boats. Kate named the new Women’s’ boat ‘Easy Rider II’ and Jon named the men’s’ boat ‘Barque of Beamish’ after his trusty four-legged companion, Beamish.

After the formal proceedings, the annual Christmas regatta proceeded in full flow, with six coxed fours racing to be crowned champions. After some close races a crew consisting of rowers Steve Sidaway, Patrick Hourigan, Graham Martin, Barry Meatyard and cox Sam Wesley proved victorious!
